Uh-oh, cam gear slipped!

WEll i was driving down the road to get my car washed until my car started bogging and then i downshifted to see whats going on, when i pushed the gas, car wouldnt go and then it died. After realizing whats happening, i roll to a stop. Tried starting my car and heard a horrible clanking noise. I popped the hood to see that my AEM cam gear has slipped and advanced itself to 20 degrees!
I had a friend come with tools and we put the timing to TDC and started the car and it started great with no wierd noises. On the drive home, car still ran great and seemed normal.
My question is if i did any internal damage to my engine that i dont know yet....How would i know if i bent any valves? Do you guys think i might of broken anything?

if it is still running properly then you *might* have lucked out and not bent the valves.

You would know if you had bent a valve believe me. It sounds as if you lucked out. smile

I have heard from a few other people that aem gears slip for some reason. Don't know if this is true but your situation seems to add some backing to that statement. frown
